An Irish Story/Poem is something we do best in the North and South of Ireland, they have a clear beginning and end with a crazy twist.
The story can be, complete nonsense, but not always. Parts of the story/poem can be exaggerated for the craic/comedic or dramatic effect.
We have put together some of our favourite Irish stories for you to enjoy.
Harold and the Scuba Diver
Murphy, a certified scuba diver from Belfast, finally explained the answer to a question that Harold had wondered about for years.
This is it.
Why do scuba divers often fall backwards off their boats, Harold, an American visitor questioned his friend Murphy.
Murphy responds, “They’d still be in the flippin’ boat if they fell forward.”
Funny Announcement from Belfast

Mick and Paddy Visit London
In London’s Covent Garden, Mick and Paddy were strolling. They had only been in the city for a week, so they were still a little naive.
Mick says, “Lord above Paddy, this is a beautiful city.”
Mick, why is that, asks Paddy.
Where else in the world, says Mick, would a total stranger approach you, strike up a conversation, invite you to dinner, and then invite you to stay the night at their home?
Paddy sputters, “did it happen to you?
Mick answers, “No, but it constantly happens to my beautiful sister.”
The Dog and O’Connor
O’Connor had a big Rottweiler at his feet while he sat in Northern Wig bar in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Murphy asks, “Does your dog bite?”
O’Connor responds, “No.
Murphy then pats the dog and it nearly completely tears off his arm.
Hey, O’Connor, you said your dog didn’t bite, yells Murphy.
O’Connor said, “That’s not my dog Murphy!”
